I love a good farmer's market. Homegrown goodness by the locals, for the locals...it's a wonderful thing.
There are more than 130 markets right here in Connecticut, illustrating the great desire for fresh, locally grown produce and handmade goods. These markets are making a positive impact on our states economy, food system, and our communities.
I happen to have a soft spot for the Niantic Farmer's Market. These are my neighbors, my friends and, well, my kind of people! They are hard working, dedicated and passionate about what they do. And, they do it well.
Today's market starts at 3 p.m. and ends with a garden dedication at 6 p.m. on Methodist Street in Downtown Niantic.
