New Haven Woman Charged In 7 CT Towns With Forgery, Larceny

Cops: Dara Morrison charged with forgery, larceny in connection with stolen checks in 7 towns including East Lyme, Waterford and Norwich.

NIANTIC, CT — Charged by East Lyme police with forgery, larceny and identity theft, Dara Morrison is facing similar charges across a number of towns from Fairfield to Norwich, Hamden to Waterford, New Haven and West Haven.

East Lyme police say Morrison, 38, of 440 Dixwell Ave., New Haven, is alleged to have stolen checks and cashed them across the state.

In July, East Lyme police were contacted by the Chelsea Groton Bank and told one of the bank's account holders had checks fraudulently cashed. Police said an "investigation revealed that Morrison was involved in the theft of checks from multiple locations throughout the state, which subsequently led to her forging and cashing those checks."

In August, East Lyme Police got an arrest warrant for Morrison for the alleged check kiting in Niantic. Saturday, Oct. 5, Morrison was taken into custody by East Lyme after her arrest by other police agencies. There were arrest warrants in a number of towns. She was booked by East Lyme cops and then turned over to another police department.

According to online judicial records, Morrison is facing forgery, larceny and identity theft cases related to alleged check theft and fraud in Fairfield, West Haven, Waterford, Hamden, Norwich, and New Haven.
