Niantic Man, 79, Charged With Sexual Assault Of A Minor
William Moore, 79, of Niantic was charged after a state and local investigation into alleged five-year-long sexual abuse of a child.
NIANTIC, CT—A 79-year-old Niantic man is charged with sexual assault after a state and local police investigation into an alleged five-year-long history of him sexually abusing a minor, according to East Lyme Police Chief Michael Finkelstein.
William Moore, of 23 Hillwood Drive, was charged Thursday.
It's been three months since East Lyme Police first began its investigation in March of 2019 into the possible sexual abuse of a minor based upon a referral from state child welfare authorities, police said.

The Department of Children and Families complaint alleged that during a period of five years, Moore "initiated contact of a sexual nature with the victim."
East Lyme police detectives investigated and applied for a warrant, signed in the New London Superior Court.

Police report that Williams turned himself into police Thursday. He was charged with fourth degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.
