Niantic Man Charged With Possession Of Fentanyl

Police say Michael D'Amato, 40, of Niantic was found in a McDonald's parking lot with "narcotics in his hands."

EAST LYME, CT—A 40-year-old Niantic man was charged with possession of narcotics after police said they found him in a fast food parking lot with fentanyl. Michael D'Amato of 81 East Pattagansett Road, Unit #60 in Niantic posted a $1000 bond and has a Sept. 5 court date.

Police said they got a report of possible drug activity in a vehicle in the parking lot of McDonald's on Chesterfield Road at around 8 p.m. with the caller providing a description of the person. Police arrived and say they found D'Amato inside his vehicle with "narcotics in his hand."

Police placed him into custody and searched his car and found 10 bags of "suspected fentanyl" and paraphernalia.
