Obituary: Betty Lee Valentini, 89, of East Lyme

Betty Lee Valentini, passed away into the grace of God peacefully at her home in East Lyme on October 30, 2016. She was 89 years old.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard Valentini, Jr. The two met in Washington, D.C. and Maryland shortly after WWII when he was in the navy.

Betty was born and raised on a farm in Perryville, MD, the last and youngest of eight children in the Boyd family, and she always longed to go back there to which she called home. Betty enjoyed the beach, the ocean, her family holidays and Christmas shopping for others. She was a great and caring person who raised and cherished many children, some of which were not her own.

She is survived by her four children, Paula, Richard, Michael, Philip, and daughter-in-law Alice; also grandchildren Eric, Clifford, Danielle, and great grandson Zachary, to all of which she was known solely as "Mam Mam". She had a very special place in their hearts.

There are no funeral services or calling hours scheduled at this time. A celebration of her life will be held later. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Connecticut Humane Society.
