Obituary: Florence Robinson, 88, of Niantic
She dearly loved working with the children in the Early Intervention Program.

Florence Robinson, 88, passed away Feb. 12, 2017.
She was born in Hartford Dec. 17, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Florence (Cheever) Fountain. Upon graduating from East Haven High School, she then attended the University of Connecticut and graduated in 1950. While at UConn she met her husband, Stanley Robinson and they were married June 30, 1951. He predeceased her on Nov. 8, 1975.

Florence worked at Seaside Regional Center as a teacher and a social worker for 23 years. She dearly loved working with the children in the Early Intervention Program. She was very proud that her two granddaughters followed in her footsteps and became special education teachers.
Upon retiring in 1992, Florence enjoyed spending many winters in Bradenton, Florida.

She is survived by her son, Mark Robinson and wife, Debra, her daughter Kim MacDonald and husband, James, her son, Scott Robinson and husband, Andy Michimi. She leaves behind five grandchildren, Brent Robinson and wife, Meghan, Kyle MacDonald and wife, Meaghan, Rachel Mastronunzio and husband, Daniel, Jill MacDonald and Ross Robinson. She was blessed to have three great granddaughters, Emma and Kate MacDonald and Marlena Mastronunzio. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her long-time friends John Dobbs and Fred Slocum.
Our family would like to thank Rose Mbye for the quality of care she has given our mother which enabled her to stay in her home.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Neilan Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic, CT. A funeral service will be held at 11 on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Norwich.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Arc of New London County, 125 Sachem St. Norwich, CT 06360 c/o of Strides for the Handicapped Road Race.
