Phony Cop Pulls Woman Over in Old Lyme
A man allegedly pretended to be an off-duty police officer and flagged a woman down as she was driving.
A Waterbury woman visiting a beach in Old Lyme in August thought something was wrong with her car when a man reportedly waved at her as she was driving.
Instead, he allegedly claimed to be an off-duty officer from Old Lyme, NBC Connecticut reported. The alleged incident took place on August 2 on Hawks Nest Road in Old Lyme.
The 25-year-old woman told NBC CT the man said he saw her not making complete stops at stop signs, which she said she did not do. He was driving a red pick-up truck and reportedly took out a badge to show the woman, but did so too fast for her to read it.

The woman told the man she would be recording video as she was not comfortable with the conversation. He reportedly informed her she had no reason to record a video and went back to his truck, then proceeded to follow the woman’s car for two miles, she said.
The case is under investigation.
