Project Bright Plans Inaugural Theatre Festival This Weekend In Niantic
Project Bright is planning its inaugural Theatre Festival, drawing over 40 participants before its start.

NIANTIC, CT - Project Bright, known best for their annual Bright Music Festival held at McCook Park in Niantic each June, is holding their inaugural day-long theatre festival Friday (August 11) through Saturday (August 12).
Like the Bright Music Festival, the Bright Theatre Festival will aim to raise awareness and money for charities that promote mental wellness and suicide prevention, according to a release. The festival will start on Friday at 7 p.m., with seven writers gathering either in-person or over Skype to each write a one-act play. These plays can be about anything, but they will have to include one specific line and three specific props, which will be revealed to them that evening.

By 7 a.m. on August 12, they will have finished writing their one-act plays, and they will each meet with a director over the next hour to discuss the content of the work. Directors and actors will meet together at 8 a.m. to begin rehearsing the plays that were produced the night before, and each play will be performed starting at 7 p.m. that evening in the East Lyme High School auditorium.
Including all actors, directors, writers, and the show’s two producers Sara and Josh Kelly from Waterford, over 40 people from at least three different states and seven different towns have agreed to volunteer their time to this festival.

There is a suggested $5 donation for all attendees, and seats will be given on a first-come first-serve basis.
Space is limited, and the show will be up for one night only, so anyone interested in seeing it is highly encouraged to arrive early for the show. Further donations to Project Bright can be made at the door.
