Senator Recognizes East Lyme Conservation Advocate

EAST LYME, CT – Senator Paul Formica recently presented conservation advocate and East Lyme resident Art Carlson with a citation recognizing over 40 years of volunteer service for the town of East Lyme.

Carlson became involved in conservation work in the early 1970's, according to a release. He helped form the East Lyme Land Trust in 1972 and planned conservation development for the town.

He was the chairperson of the first Conservation Commission to adopt the Inland Wetlands Act and has served as the chairman of the East Lyme Commission for the Conservation of Natural Resources, where he was recently involved in the creation of the Goodwin Trail.

He has also worked to restore the Samuel Smith House.

Formica presented the citation at a celebration on April 2 in honor of Carlson’s many years of service.
