State Cops: Fire Marshal Charged With Larceny
Christopher Taylor resigned as fire marshal just weeks ago. State police charged him with stealing from county fire group's bank account.

EAST LYME, CT — On Thursday, just a few weeks after quitting his post as fire marshal, Christopher T. Taylor was arrested by state police for for allegedly raiding the coffers of the New London County Fire Marshal's Association while acting as its treasurer. Taylor, 45, was charged with second-degree larceny, according to a police report.
Taylor, of 9 Monticello Drive, was charged with second-degree larceny. State police said he was released after posting a $25,000 surety bond.
The criminal information summary provided to Patch alleges Taylor made “unauthorized transactions” from an association bank account. It’s not clear how much was stolen and for how long a period of time. The group’s president called the police on Oct. 1, according to the report from Connecticut State Police, when he became aware of the theft.

In a Day report on Taylor's Oct. 10 resignation, it was noted that after serving the town for 16 years, the town’s First Selectman said Taylor had been on leave for months "on a very well-documented medical situation."
The paper reported Taylor cited both medical and personal reasons for his departure as fire marshal.
