State Court Rejects Appeal of Suspect in East Lyme Murder-for-Hire
The case, which has spanned over the course of more than two decades, has been the subject of both books and television programs.

HARTFORD, CT - Three judges on the Connecticut Appellate Court have rejected the appeal of a woman convicted in a 1994 murder-for-hire in East Lyme, the New London Day reported.
Beth Carpenter, 53, had initially argued to the court that her trial lawyer made a number of mistakes, according to the New London Day. The suspect cited the lawyer’s failure to both secure a plea deal and have an expert witness examine her before the trial as evidence of her claims.
Carpenter’s lawyer said the suspect intends to appeal the ruling to the Connecticut Supreme Court, the New London Day reported. The case, which has spanned over the course of more than two decades, has been the subject of both books and television programs.
