TOUCH-A-TRUCK AND E.L. ROTARY CONDUCTING AN AMBER SAFE CHILD ID EVENT

On Saturday, May 16, 2015 (rain date Sunday, May 17), the East Lyme Auxiliary of Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut and the East Lyme Parks and Recreation Department will co-sponsor the eighth annual Touch-A-Truck event. This is a family event that will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at McCook Point Park in Niantic, CT.
Returning again will be the East Lyme Rotary with their project to safeguard children- AMBER ALERT. This program is a voluntary nationwide partnership to combat child abduction by providing immediate descriptive information to law enforcement to aid in a child’s safe recovery.
The AMBER ALERT Safe Child ID Project is the only known program to pass out an ID card to parents that can be immediately handed to Law Enforcement as soon as a child is discovered missing.

The AMBER ALERT Safe Child ID Project has endeavored to provide both privacy and security of the information and the computer system. Privacy is achieved by omitting the child’s name and address from the ID card. Security of the data is provided by making access to the information only available to law enforcement officials who can active an AMBER Alert.
The Rotary chairman for this event is Neil Frisch. More information can be found at http://amberchildid.org/information.html
