U.S. News Ranks Lyme-Area High Schools Among Best Schools in Connecticut

The verdict is out on the top high schools in Connecticut, after U.S. News & World Report released their rankings Tuesday, May 13.

The top three ranked schools in Connecticut are:

• Connecticut International Baccalaureate Academy in East Hartford
• The Amistad Academy in New Haven
• Academy of Aerospace and Engineering in Hartford

East Lyme High School

East Lyme High School ranked 16th in the state and 592nd nationally. The student-to-faculty ratio is smaller than the state average, at 11:1. The school consists of 1,127 students and 99 teachers.

English Proficiency

• Above CT Avg
• 94% Proficient
• 6% Not Proficient

College Readiness Index

The key statistic is the college readiness index, which U.S. News & World defines as based on the percentage of 12th graders who were tested and passed the AP exams. The maximum value is 100-percent.

Lyme-​Old Lyme High School/Regional School District 18

Lyme-​Old Lyme High School ranked 20th in the state and 691st nationally. The student-to-faculty ratio is smaller than the state average, at 10:1. The school consists of 421 students and 40 teachers.

By way of comparison, the state’s top ranked high school has a college readiness index score of 95.3, and Darien High School, ranked eight, has a college readiness index score of 59.5.

A college readiness score greater than 35 is above average and any score between 20-35 is near the state average, according to the report.
