Voluntary Pay Cut Taken by East Lyme First Selectman

EAST LYME, CT - An East Lyme First Selectman is voluntarily taking a $16,000 pay cut, NBC Connecticut reported. His decision comes on the heels of tough financial times for the town.
Mark Nickerson’s current salary of $115,459 will drop to about $99,000 per year, according to NBC Connecticut. His proposed cut received approval from the town's Finance Committee on Monday. (To sign up for the Lymes breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Nickerson acknowledged his $16,000 pay cut will not solve every issue associated with the town’s budget, NBC Connecticut reported. He also said he will work just as hard while receiving a smaller paycheck.
