Sometimes the most common items, becomes an urgent request within an agency like ours. Case in point, those plastic grocery bags you get when you buy food has become something we are urgently needing right now.
In recent months, we have been using our food pantry to give out roughly 2,500 to 3,000 pounds of food...a week. An operation such as this requires those grocery bags, lots and lots of them! Because of the huge amount of food distributions of late, we have found ourselves very quickly running out of bags to pack the food into, that will eventually go to the people we are serving. Hence the reason why we are turning to you for the help.
If you have grocery bags that are just piling up in your closet, and you are able to get them to our building, (11 Governor Winthrop Blvd, New London), we really, really can sure use them for a great purpose! Our office is opened Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday 9 a.m. to 12 noon. This seriously will be a BIG help.
And while you are thinking of it, if you have any can goods and/or other non perishable food items, our food pantry can also use some help in that area. So if you think of it, if you bring bags and food, you will be helping out twice as much!
