$3 Million State Grant Approved For Tolland County Mutual Aid
The Tolland County Mutual Aid communications system will be getting an upgrade.

TOLLAND, CT — The State Bond Commission Friday approved $3 million to upgrade the Tolland County Mutual Aid emergency communication system.
The move was hailed by state Rep. Tammy Nuccio (R-Ashford, Tolland, Willington), state Rep. Pat Boyd (D-Brooklyn, Eastford, Pomfret, Union, Woodstock), state Rep. Tim Ackert (R-Tolland, Coventry, Vernon) and state Sen. Daniel Champagne (R-35).
The lawmakers, along with the management of Station TN had been advocating for an upgrade. The $3 million represents one of the "most significant investments" in the emergency dispatch infrastructure in the history of Eastern Connecticut, Boyd said.

Tyler Millix, the Executive Director of Station TN, also helped secure the funding.
The upgrades that will not only enhance emergency communications within the immediate area but will also pave the way for integration into statewide systems that will allow for redundancy and enhanced capability.

"We look forward to collaborating with our Regional and State partners in the development of this project," Millix said.
Tolland County Mutual Aid is a regional primary public safety answering point for 16 municipalities, a secondary answering point for two municipalities and it provides fire and EMS dispatching services to 26 individual fire and EMS agencies spanning Tolland, Windham, Hartford and New London Counties.
Tolland County Mutual Aid has been serving the area since 1950. The center is known as "TN" in communication circles with the call letters KCD-346.
