At 30 Years Old, Tolland Fire Truck Is Still Answering The Call

TOLLAND, CT — A 30 years old, a Tolland Fire Department vehicle is still answering the call.

Thirty years ago, the fire department took delivery of a 1993 Pierce Dash Engine Tank equipped with a 1,500-gallon-per-minute and a 1,000-gallon water tank, fire officials said. The truck served out of Station 240 on Merrow Road with a radio designation of "Engine Tank 240" or "ET-240" from 1993 until 2006.

In 2006, the truck was re-designated as Engine Tank 440 (ET-440) to serve out of Station 440 on Plains Road.

In 2013, the truck was refurbished by Firematic.

The truck will soon be re-designated back to ET-240 and relocated back to Station 240.
