State police have made an arrest in a residential burglary investigation in Tolland.

TOLLAND, CT — State police have made an arrest in a residential burglary investigation in Tolland.
State police on Oct. 2 served a warrant to 64-year-old Luis Mims in connection with a burglary on Old Post Road. He has been charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree larceny in the matter and remained in custody this week on a $50,000 bond, according to judicial system records.
According to a warrant, on Aug. 24, state police were dispatched to a home on the 100 block of Old Post Road in Tolland to investigate a residential burglary. A friend of the homeowner had arrived on the property to perform some repair work, but discovered a side door was not secure, according to a warrant. The door's frame had been damaged, according to a warrant.

Missing items included an ice cream container with about $300 worth of "change" in it and a tablet valued at $300, according to a warrant.
Home surveillance footage showed a black early 2000s Ford Explorer with Connecticut plates pull into the Tolland Recreation Center. A "heavyset" man then crossed into the home's driveway and walk around the property, then leave the property with a blue bag over his shoulder, according t0 a warrant.

He then drove way in the Explorer, according to a warrant.
State police posted the images on social media and a Connecticut Capitol Police Officer recognized the man as Mims. A warrant was then secured for his arrest, state police said. Mims had also been in custody in the New Hampshire prison system for a similar incident, and, in 2020, he was arrested in Glastonbury after a condo burglary involving an older Ford Explorer, according to a warrant.
Mims is due for a second court appearance in the case on Nov. 6, judicial system records show.
