TOLLAND, CT — The list of those arrested after authorities raided a suspected gambling and cockfighting operation in Tolland totals 100.
State police released more details about the raid Monday, including the full list.
According to an incident report, at 1:29 p.m. Saturday, the Connecticut State Police Bureau of Special Investigations executed a search and seizure warrant at 55 Mountain Spring Road in Tolland, the result of a lengthy investigation conducted by CSP into illegal gambling and cockfighting events being hosted inside the residence.
As a result of the search warrant execution, state police made 100 in-custody arrests and seized approximately $90,000 in U.S. currency, according to an incident report. The Connecticut Department of Agriculture located 273 birds on the property and all 273 birds were euthanized due their deteriorated conditions, according to an incident report.
The homeowners of 55 Mountain Spring Rd were arrested at the scene and identified as Elvin Miranda, 59 and Lisa Miranda, 66.
Lisa and Elvin Miranda were taken into custody and transported to Troop C where they were processed and charged with cruelty to Animals, professional gambling, operating a gambling premise and risk of injury to a minor, state police said. They were later released after posting a $250,000 cash/surety bond and were to appear Monday in Rockville Superior Court, state police said.
