TOLLAND, CT — Municipal officials in Tolland are asking state police to investigate a series of intolerant messages posted in town.
Tolland Town Manager Brian Foley said that, on Monday, he received a complaint from a "concerned Tolland resident" that signs with intolerant tones have been appearing on utility police in various areas in town.
The signs appear to be homemade with spray paint and stencils and read: "Deport Invaders — Patriotfront.US."
An internet search defines Patriotfront.us as the official website for Patriot Front, an American white nationalist and "neo-fascist" hate group that was Formed in 2017 following a "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, VA.
One utility pole pinpointed is in front of the Exit 68 commuter lot on Route 195.
Foley said has been working with state police to coordinate removal.
Foley has also requested that the matter be referred to the Connecticut State Police Hate Crimes Unit.
The signs have emerged "over the last couple of days," Foley said.
