HARTFORD/TOLLAND, CT — Governor Ned Lamont and Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz Friday announced that they are inviting members of the public to attend a ceremony honoring the life, legacy, and public service of former Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman.
The tribute is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the atrium of the Legislative Office Building at 300 Capitol Ave. in Hartford.
Wyman passed away Aug. 12. She lived in Tolland for many years and was popular throughout the state for her maternal and pleasant public persona.
She began her career in public service on the Tolland Board of Education. Wyman served as the 108th lieutenant governor of Connecticut from 2011 to 2019. She was the first woman in Connecticut elected as state comptroller, serving in that office from 1995 to 2011. She also served as state representative of the 53rd Assembly District from 1987 to 1995.
Current and former elected officials will be invited to make remarks honoring her life, as will several former staff members who spent many years working alongside Lt. Governor Wyman.
The ceremony is open to the public and all Connecticut residents are invited to pay their respects.
Anyone who has photographs of themselves or others with Lt. Governor Wyman are encouraged to submit them via email to WymanTribute@gmail.com by Oct. 13, for display in a slideshow that will be featured during the ceremony.
