• Tolland's Birch Grove Project Mentioned Prominently In Federal Sentencing Of Former State Official (patch.com) — Tolland officials are seeking about $80,000 in restitution tied to the Birch Grove Primary School rebuilding project, after a former state construction grants director was sentenced on federal corruption charges. The town says documented costs stemmed from his alleged underhanded dealings, and local leaders believe their push has encouraged other Connecticut towns to pursue similar claims.
   

• Hartford Mourns Former Deputy Police Chief As Support Grows For His Family (dailyvoice.com) — Tolland is mourning Jason Lee, a longtime Hartford deputy police chief and town resident who died Sept. 27 after a battle with cancer. Nearly 300 donors have already contributed tens of thousands of dollars to support his wife and two young sons, and calling hours and a funeral Mass are scheduled locally in Vernon and at St. Matthew Church in Tolland.
