TOLLAND, CT — An election ballot question is asking Tolland voters to approve $6.5 million in bonding for the replacement of the artificial turf field at Tolland High School and for roof improvements.
The field is 13 years old and is essentially worn. The roof needs work, officials said.
Town Manager Brian Foley said the projects are part of planned debt outlined in a five-year capital improvement plan. Both projects have already been approved as part of last year's budget and will not have an extra effect on taxes, he said.
Any "large" project that carries a dollar amount that is equal to 5 percent over current the tax levy has to go to referendum, Foley said, citing the Tolland Town Charter.
