Antics At 109 MPH In Vernon And Tolland Cost Driver 8 Charges
A driver was pulled over after a pursuit in Tolland and Vernon, state police said.

VERNON, CT — A 22-year-old East Hartford man is facing eight criminal charges after he was caught barreling along Interstate 84 at 109 MPH through Tolland and Vernon.
State police release details of the Election Day incident this week.
At 4:24 p.m. and the sun low in the sky, state troopers clocked a blue coupe at 109 mph near Exit 68, and the car sped away at an even higher rate of speed when troopers began their pursuit, according to an arrest report.

The pursuit was broken off, but the can was spotted a short time later near Exit 67, state police said. The car exited the highway, then drove right back on and was corralled on the westbound side, according to an arrest report.
Eliezer Lopez was charged with driving an unregistered vehicle, improper use of a marker plate, reckless driving, engaging police in a pursuit, failure to drive in the proper lane, following too closely, a traffic signal violation and having an improper stop or turn signal lamp.
