Apple Watches 'Wrist Dialing' 911, Tolland County Officials Saying
Local emergency officials are urging watch wearers to check their SOS contact function.
TOLLAND, CT — Butt dialing 911? Well, it's actually wrist dialing and it's apparently been happening in Tolland County from more than a few people wearing Apple Watches.
"Our 911 center has been experiencing a surge in false 911 calls from Apple Watch users. Please be careful," was the message posted Thursday on the Tolland County 911 Tritter account.
According to the Apple support website, there is an SOS contact function and when a user makes a call with SOS, the Apple Watch automatically calls the local emergency number.
