TOLLAND, CT β€” A question from a driver to state police about brake lights seemed to have good intentions, until troopers discovered he was having a beer at the same time, according to an arrest report.

The situation unraveled at 3:29 p.m. on April 16, when state police were in the process of clearing a separate traffic stop on Tolland Stage Road, according to an arrest report. A driver then stopped and asked a state trooper if his brakes lights were working, according to an arrest report.

That's when the trooper noticed a can of Foster's beer in the vehicle's center console, according to an arrest report.
