Bonding Authorized For Tolland Sidewalks, School Projects, Fire Truck

Tolland officials are authorized, per a resolution, to issue bonds not to exceed $2,155 million to pay for the projects.

TOLLAND, CT — The Tolland Town Council this week voted to approve a bonding resolution that appropriates $555,000 for various school improvements, $1.2 million for a new fire rescue truck and $400,000 for sidewalk improvements.

Town officials are also authorized, per the resolution, to issue bonds not to exceed $2,155,000 to pay for the projects.

The school project includes security communications system improvements and equipment at Tolland Middle School, Tolland Intermediate School and Tolland High School.

The plan is to improve the "security infrastructure" at TMS, including the construction of an exterior containment area within the main front entrance of the school building with "penetration resistant" windows, doors, exterior and interior glazing and door cameras.

The main main office at the school will be renovated and roads and parking lots will be will be repaired, according to the resolution.

Tolland High School will get a new dishwasher.

The plan is to construct ADA-compliant sidewalks on the Tolland Green and various improvements to the Tolland Veterans Memorial area of the Green, according to the resolution.

That the town manager and superintendent of schools are also authorized to seek state grants to offset the costs.
