Brush Fire Breaks Out Just Hours After Tolland FD Issues Warning

TOLLAND, CT — Just hours after posting a warning about dangerous conditions, Tolland firefighters had to contend with a brush fire.

The fire broke out at about 2 p.m. in an area in between Buff Cap Road in Tolland and Ladd Road in Ellington. The brush fire was in a 40-foot-by-40-foot area and had spread to a shed, fire officials said.

The shed was "fully involved" when firefighters arrived at the scene, according to a report. No injuries were reported.

Six hours earlier, the Tolland Fire Department posted a warning that the potential for a forest fire was "very high." State environmental officials had extended their "red flag warning" to Tuesday from Monday.
