It was a little hot out there on Friday at the Luce Conservation area, an open space parcel that is Tolland's newest.
Speaking of new, town officials are inviting residents to fill a current vacancy on the Conservation Commission.
The commission's charge is to promote the efficient use of energy and natural resources, which is in the best interest of the protection and enhancement of the Town’s environment and economy as well as the health of the current and future generation of residents, Town Manager Steven Werbner said.
Those interested should submit a letter of interest and/or a resume highlighting their skills and stating their level of interest and ability to attend meetings to: Town Manager’s Office, 21 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT 06084; or via e-mail to Werbner at: swerbner@tolland.org.
The Conservation Commission was created on August 25, 1998 by resolution 03-40 with an advisory function on open space issues.
Its current mission includes research, maintaining an inventory of open space areas, development of conservation education programs, evaluation and proposal for open space acquisition, and oversight of the Town’s Conservation areas.
The Conservation Commission meets on the second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the sixth floor of the Hicks Municipal Center, 21 Tolland Green.
