TOLLAND, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Students in Eastern Connecticut State University's Biology Department presented their independent research projects at the 73rd Annual Eastern Colleges Science Conference on April 6 at Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY. Among the student presenters was Samuel Pallis of Tolland, who majors in Biology. Pallis's presentation was titled " An analysis of the efficacy of varying sampling protocols for Necturus maculosus." Pallis was mentored by Dr. Kristen Epp.

SUNY Oneonta, Oneonta NY

  • Olivia Simler, of Tolland, was one of 43 SUNY Oneonta students who earned a 2019 Senior Service Award recognizing commitment to volunteerism. Seniors who completed at least 350 hours of service through the college's Center for Social Responsibility and Community (CSRC) were recognized during a reception on May 10. Simler studied Early Chld/Childhood Ed (B-6) at SUNY Oneonta.
