TOLLAND, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Eastern Connecticut State University's Biology Department hosted its annual honor society induction and award ceremony on April 26. At the event 33 new members were inducted into the Tri-Beta National Biological Honor Society and 12 students were awarded for their outstanding accomplishments in the department. Among the honored was Samuel Pallis of Tolland, who majors in Biology. Pallis was awarded with special certificates of recognition for his noteworthy work in the biology department and quality performance on an independent study project. Pallis also presented his analysis titled "The Efficacy of Varying Sampling Protocols for the Mudpuppy Salamander."

  • Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) President Laurie Leshin and Board of Trustees Chairman Jack Mollen presided over the university's 151st Commencement celebrations, awarding over 850 master's and doctoral degrees at the Graduate Ceremony, held on the campus Quadrangle. Joshua Morales of Tolland was awarded a master of science degree in materials science and engineering.
