TOLLAND, CT — Brenda Falusi, a Tolland resident is running for House of Representatives District 8.

Family: My husband, Maj. Steven Falusi (Ret.) served over 20 years in the Connecticut Air National Guard. We have two daughters, one in high school and the other in college. I have twice left my career to focus on the health of our children.

Occupation: I currently consider myself a volunteer and homemaker. I have a broad background of experiences ranging from having been a retail store manager (5+ years), to a computer consultant including being a courseware trainer and developer (almost 30 years), and more recently a hospitality recruiter. I volunteered as a former EMT/Cert member (7+ years) and currently as a member of the Blessed Sacrament Pastoral Council for the last decade.

The single most pressing issue facing our state is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it: Our response and recovery from Covid-19, especially regarding health care, small businesses, seniors and working families; I will listen to science and apply expert advice to balance economic and safety concerns.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post? My determined focus on working families, equity, and protecting those most vulnerable.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job? I am committed to service and duty for our community. When my husband retired from the military, I felt compelled to run for local office to give back on a greater level. The challenges of balancing my family and career along with my husband serving demonstrate my fortitude and unique experience for this office.

Do you believe Connecticut needs reform when it comes to electric utility oversight? What steps, if any should be taken? Absolutely, Connecticut needs reform regarding electric utility oversight. Customers need to come before shareholders.

What steps should state government take to bolster economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic for local businesses? The state government should listen to experts, and ultimately ensure small businesses have all the resources they need to reopen and reopen safely.

List other issues that define your campaign platform: My platform is dedicated to the issues of crumbling foundations, affordable health care, protecting seniors, and strengthening education.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions? As a mom, fighting for affordable healthcare and quality education are extremely important issues to me. As a State Representative, I want to listen to the people of this district, be their advocate and represent them.
