Car Catches Fire After Collision In Tolland
Tolland emergency crews took care of a car fire near a highway interchange.

TOLLAND, CT — A car caught fire in Tolland Friday — but it wasn't on the highway.
It was near the highway — on the 1400 block of Tolland Stage Road. According to a state police crash report, a 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer with a 54-year-old Ellington woman behind the wheel was heading east on Tolland Stage Road and a 2009 Subaru Outback being driven by a 26-year-old Tolland woman was heading west.
The Subaru turned left to enter the Interstate 84 westbound ramp and cut on front of the Jeep, according to a crash report.

A fire ensued in the Subaru's engine block following the collision and the Tolland fire department responded to put out the flames, according to state police and fire officials.
Minor injuries were reported.

The driver of the Subaru was cited for failure to yield while making a left-hand turn, according to state police.
