Car Goes Airborne in Tolland, Hits Tree, Embankment

State police are investigating a crash in Tolland.

TOLLAND, CT — State police are investigating a crash in which a car went airborne and crashed into a tree near the interchange of Tolland Stage Road and Shenipsit Lake Road, a report indicates.

Tolland Stage is the local name for state Route 74.

At 5:28 p.m. on Tuesday, a Mazda A6 was traveling south on Shenipsit Lake Road, when it went through a stop sign at the interchange, hit an embankment, flew about 30 feet in the air and hit a tree and another embankment, according to a report.

The driver was taken to Rockville General Hospital and treated for minor injuries, a report indicates.

Charges are pending, state police said.
