Car Hits Drainage Ditch On I-84 In Tolland

TOLLAND, CT — A car wound up in a drainage ditch on a stretch of Interstate-84 in Tolland to begin the weekend.

The crash took place at 11:38 a.m. Friday, about a mile east of Exit 67 on the westbound side of the highway, according to a report. A 2010 Mazda 6i left the road, careened down an enbankment and hit a drainage ditch in the center median, state police said.

Tolland Fire Department officials said one person was transported to an area hospital via ambulance.

The driver, a 29-year-old Beacon Falls man, was cited for a lane violation and failing to wear a seat belt, according to a report.
