Connecticut State Police Getting Body Cameras
Connecticut troopers are getting body cameras beginning this summer.

TOLLAND, CT — State police officials have acquired 800 body cameras and will begin putting them on troopers this summer.
The announcement was made by Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Commissioner Dora Schriro Tuesday. She said the motive is to "build trust" and "foster transparency."
"We believe equipping all of our troopers on patrol with body-worn cameras ... will contribute to our conversations with everyone we encounter," she said.

The total cost of the cameras was not disclosed in a news release but the state police did receive an $895,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to offset the cost.
The first set of 100 cameras cameras will be distributed in four phases of two months each this summer, state police officials said. Troop H out of Hartford and Bethany-based Troop I will be the first to get them, state police officials said.
