Crandall Park Summer Camp Cancelled
Tolland Recreation has decided to cancel Crandall Park Summer Camp for the summer of 2020.

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Tolland Recreation has decided to cancel Crandall Park Summer Camp for the summer of 2020. This has been a tough decision for our department, but the safety of our participants and staff are our utmost concern.

This decision was not an easy decision to make. Our decision was made as a result of multiple conversations with our local health department and recreation professionals throughout the state; concerns over the availability of proper disinfectants and their future availability; and adherence to restrictions and guidelines imposed through executive orders by the State of Connecticut. With the uncertainties of the future over the coming months, this decision seems to be the best for all involved.
Based on restrictions and guidelines regarding group size, program size, staffing, health screenings, intensified cleaning measures, social distancing measures and more, this year’s Camp program would not look or feel like the Camp program we are all used to. The restrictions required for summer camp would ultimately reduce our enrollment allotment by approximately 65 percent. The limited group sizes and physical distancing required would not allow us to provide the socialization and summer camp experience that we have all come to know and love.

The Recreation Department is working hard on providing other recreational outlets for the residents of Tolland. We are in hopes of finalizing a few summer programs that will allow your child(ren) to enjoy some social and recreational opportunities throughout the summer.
