HARTFORD/TOLLAND COUNTIES, CT — State and local police departments are looking for theives in an expensive car with eclectic fashion styles who have stolen automated teller machines from stores throughout the region.

According to a report, troopers from the State Police Eastern District Major Crimes Squad along with several municipal departments, have been responding to a series of commercial burglaries during which three people forced their way into convenience stores and "forcibly removed" ATM machines.

To date, the incidents have taken place in about 20 different towns, with several businesses being hit in each location per night, state police said.

State police said the three suspects have been operating a dark-colored BMW 4-door vehicle, possibly from the BMW 5-Series. The car was likely stolen, state police added.

Once the ATM is stolen, the trio finds a secluded location, breaks into the ATM, takes its contents
and then dump the msachine, a report indicates.

One incident was captured on video and released by state police:

  • Suspect No. 1, seen entering the business first, is a "light-skinned, heavyset individual." He is wearing a ski-mask, a light-colored pullover hoodie with a "man purse" over the shoulder, dark-colored capris style pants with a stripe down the side and gloves. He is carrying and crowbar.
  • Suspect No. 2 is "short" and is wearing a "Buffalo David Bitton" pullover hoodie with two-tone wrist, waist coloring and zippered side pockets with dark sneakers.
  • Suspect No. 3 is wearing a lightweight ribbed style jacket, sweatpants, gloves, and ski mask.
