A glaring example was posted by state police on social media Wednesday. A car was shown pulled over on a road in Killingworth that had just a small area cleared on the windshield for the driver to see through. The rest of the car was covered with a frozen blanket.
State police issued a not-so-subtle warning with the post: Ice scraper from Walmart: $4.29; ticket for failing to remove snow:$120; lesson learned: priceless.

Another example took place on Interstate-84 in Tolland last month.
What state police described as a "large sheet of ice" flew off a commercial truck and hit a rental truck at 7:31 a.m. on Jan. 30 on the westbound side of I-84, according to a report. The truck, owned by a company called Midland Transport and registered in Nebraska, was being driven by a 42-year-old man from Nebraska, according to a report.
The ice became "dislodged" and hit a Ryder rental truck being driven by a 44-year-old Enfield man, according to a report.
