Discussions on Constables in Tolland Schools to Continue Through September

Security guards are another option, officials said.

TOLLAND, CT — Education officials will likely turn to security guards in the schools if discussions on hiring constables do not progress by the end of the month.

At the Sept. 14 Board of Education meeting, board members, in a unanimous vote, directed school system administrators to, "continue the conversation toward entering into an agreement that would allow for constables in the schools..."

The motion continued to say, "... but to offer the positions of security officers on Oct. 1, 2016 if those discussions have not born any resolution."

And even that could be temporary because the motion also directed school administrators to, "continue to work toward having constables," past Oct. 1.
