Downed Trees, Wires Lead To 35 Emergency Calls In Tolland

TOLLAND, CT — As a strong-winded storm rolled into town Thursday night into Friday, Tolland fire units responded to approximately 35 calls involving trees down, trees on wires, or wires down on many roads.

As of 3 p.m., Friday, 17 of the locations have had the tree removed, wires cleared, and the roads have been reopened.

Fire officials said reopened areas are:

• 167 Walbridge Hill Road at Merrow Road
• 114 Old Stafford Road at Sugar Hill Road
• Mountain Spring Road at Old Post Road
• 167 Mountain Spring Road at Alta Vista Ave
• 297 Crystal Lake Road at Eaton Road
• 27 Sherry Circle at Anthony Road
• 35 Grant Hill Road at Cider Mill Road
• Cider Mill Road at Grant Hill Road
• Metcalf Road at Grant Hill Road
• 120 SOuth River Road at Woodhendge Drive
• 783 Old Stafford Road at Ferwood Road
• 303 Weigold Road at Summerwood Ridge
• Weigold Road at Anderson Road
• Goose Lane at Anderson Road
• River Park atSouth River Road
• 1 Eagle Hill at Old Cathole Road

Fire officials said the following roads were still closed Friday afternoon with trees on wires:

• 122 Anthony Road at Virginia Road
• 305 Buff Cap Road at Donna Mae Lane
• Crystal Lake Road at Peter Green Road
• Old Cathole Road at Rhodes Road
• 223 Goose Lane at Patricia Drive
• 21 Cook Road at Old Stafford Road
• 8 Webber Road at Crystal Lake Road
• 752 Shenipsit Lake Road at Grahaber Road
• 367 Goose Lane at Pamela Court
• 6 New Road at Grant Hill Road
• 447 Shenipsit Lake Road at Eaton Road
• 32 Burbank Road at Tolland Stage Road
• Gottier Road at Shenipsit Lake Road
• 152 Old Stafford Road at Sugar Hill Road
• 16 New Road at Grant Hill Road
• 80 New Road at Grant Hill Road

The following roads were down to one lane due to tree on wires:

• Dunn Hill Road at 114 Tolland Stage Road
• 951 Tolland Stage Road at Old Cathole Road
