Driver Charged After Car Crashes, Blocks Road In Tolland

TOLLAND, CT β€” A weekend crash led to a vehicle blocking a road in Tolland and the driver in handcuffs, state police said.

According to a state police crash report, at 7:51 p.m. Saturday, trooper were dispatched to Peter Green Road near the Route 74 intersection after being alerted to a vehicle blocking the road. When they arrived at the scene, Troopers encountered a gray BMW 535i with Connecticut plates sitting in the center of the road with its airbags deployed.

The driver, a 40-year-old Somers man, had to be "escorted" from the vehicle and then failed sobriety tests, according to an arrest report.

He was charged with driving under the influence, failure to renew a registration and interfering with police.
