Driver Clocked at 136 MPH in Pursuit Through Tolland

A man who was doing 136 mph on the highway was eventually chased down, state police said.

TOLLAND, CT — A man in a Dodge Challenger hit speeds of 136 mph as he sped through Manchester, Vernon and Tolland before troopers and a state police dog snagged him on Interstate-84 eastbound in Willington, an arrest report indicates.

The escapades of Khalid Rahab began at 11:12 p.m. when the 21-year-old Manchester, NH, resident was spotted speeding in Manchester, CT, near Exit 64 on the eastbound lanes if I-84, according to an arrest report.

A trooper began to chase him, but broke off the pursuit for traffic and safety concerns, according to an arrest report.

Rahab was doing 136 mph when he reached Exit 66 in Vernon, state police said.

A trooper picked up the chase in Tolland, where Rahab was still traveling at 106 mph and Rahab exited the highway at the Willington rest area, according to an arrest report.

He stopped, exited his vehicle and began to flee, but was apprehended by troopers and police dog Rocky, according to an arrest report.

He was charged with reckless driving, driving without a license and failure to have his lights on, state police said.
