Driver Escapes Burning Car On I-84, But Fails Sobriety Test: Police
A crash in Vernon led to a car fire in Tolland, authorities said.

TOLLAND, CT β The driver of a car that burst into flames on a section of Interstate 84 in Tolland wound up being charged with drunken driving and using unsafe tires, state police said.
Firefighters said they made quick work of the fire, but the car was completely engulfed in flames, they said.
According to a state police crash report, at 9:30 p.m. Friday, state police received a report about a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate eastbound 84 near the Exit 64-65 interchange.

A vehicle involved had fled the scene and caught on fire near Exit 68, which prompted a response from Tolland firefighters.
The driver, a 36-year-old from Canton, was located outside the vehicle safe, but he then failed sobriety tests, state police said in a report.
