Driver Hits 120 MPH, Then Charged With DUI On I-84

A man whizzed by a trooper, then was arrested for drunken driving, state police said.

TOLLAND, CT — A man who was later charged with drunken driving passed a state trooper at about 120 mph over the weekend on Interstate-84, state police said.

At 11:31 on Saturday, a state trooper was traveling east on Interstate-84 in the left lane, according to a report.

A black Mitsubishi sedan suddently passed him from the right lane at a high rate of speed, according to a report.

The trooper caught up to the Mitsubishi and noticed it was doing 120 mph, according to a report.

The car was pulled over near Exit 69 and the trooper noticed the odor of alcohol emanating from the driver's breath. He was identified as 22-year-old Chad Richburg of Southwick, MA.

Richburg failed sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and making an improper turn, according to a report.
