Driver Rams Mailboxes, Pole In Tolland, Then Flees Scene: State Cops

TOLLAND, CT β€” A driver who rammed his pickup truck into mailboxes, a pole and a stone wall in Tolland over the weekend and then fled the scene on foot is facing three criminal charges, state police said.

The crash took place just prior to 2 a.m. Saturday on Mile Hill Road, according to state police.

A crash report indicates that a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado being driven by a 35-year-old South Windsor man was headed south on Mile Hill Road when the truck suddenly left the road to the right and ran over two mailboxes on the 100 block.

The truck then slammed into a utility pole near a stone wall and knocked out power in the neighborhood, according to a crash report and town officials. The driver left the scene on foot and was located about 2 miles away from the crash, still on Mile Hill Road.

He was charged with driving under the influence, evading responsibility and interfering with police, according to an arrest report.
