Driver Takes Out Sign In Tolland, Nabbed By Dog After Fleeing: Report
A state police dog has another arrest to his credit.

TOLLAND, CT — A traffic sign was on the ground and a driver was facing his third drunken driving charge after a weekend crash and subsequent apprehension by a police dog at a tricky intersection in Tolland, state police said.
The one-car crash took place at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Route 30 and 74 fork near Rockville Equipment, according to state police.
When they arrived at the scene, state troopers located a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, with substantial damage and airbag deployment but no driver, according to a crash report. State police dog Drago was called to the scene initiated a track from the vehicle, according to a crash report. After about 10 minutes of scent work, Drago located the driver, the 37-year-old man from Pawling, NY, hiding along a fence line on Mountain Spring Road.

Troopers took the man into custody and charged him with evading responsibility with property damage, failure to maintain the proper lane and driving under the influence, according to a crash report. During the booking process, it was determined it was the driver's third DUI arrest, state police said.
The driver was released on a $50,000 bond and is due in Rockville Superior Court on Jan. 30, records show.
