TOLLAND, CT — A late-night crash on St. Patrick's Day in Tolland has resulted in a drunken driving charge, state police said.

An Eversource pole was damaged in the crash.

According to a crash report, a 35-year-old Tolland man was heading west on New Road at 10:37 p.m. in a 2022 KIA Sportage. The sport utility vehicle suddenly veered off the road and struck the pole and a tree, according to a crash report.

The driver failed sobriety tests after state police arrived at the scene and he was charged with driving under the influence, according to a crash and arrest report.

He was also charged with failure to drive in the proper lane, according to an arrest report.
