Family Science Sundays: Animal Sunday

Family Science Sundays are back! And the kickoff to a new year of science fun is going to be wild.

Animal Sunday is the first of 11 monthly events, bringing hands-on experiments, amazing demonstrations, special guest stars, take-home projects and more to The Children’s Museum. Thanks to Northeast Utilities/Connecticut Light and Power for sponsoring FSS!

On Animal Sunday, beastly guests will abound:
... • Snakes! Riverside Reptiles brings its program “Snakes!” featuring some of the most beautiful serpents you’ll ever see.
• Mammals! The Zoo at Forest Park introduces you to furry folks such as porcupine, fox, skunk, and more.
• Parrots! Meet the colorful and loquacious birds of Wing and a Prayer parrot rescue.
• Turtles! Arick Barsch of the Turtle Conservation Project introduces you to Snapper-cam, and efforts to save threatened turtles.
• Skulls! Check out The Children’s Museum’s collection of animal skulls
• Bugs – and more! Take a closer look at live invertebrates. These spineless creatures make up almost all of the animal species on earth.

All Animal Sunday activities are free with museum admission.

The Children's Museum Wildlife Sanctuary is home to more than 100 live rescued animals. Travelers Science Dome is CT's largest digital full dome planetarium, and fun with science and nature for the family or school group, scout group (we have Camp-ins!), and more. Great place for a birthday party for your favorite child. Free onsite parking, walking distance to West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square. Admission: $11 ages 2 and up; free under age 2; $1 senior discount (join our email list for special offers and discounts!). Admission includes one planetarium show. Open Mondays during the summer and on local school holidays. The fourth Wednesday of every month is FREE Mars Madness from 3-6pm--see our website for details.
