Welcome to the start of the New Year and the first of three special homeschool
days this winter. As supporters of your family’s choice for self-directed,
home-based education, we invite children who are homeschooled to visit the
Museum, tour our exhibits, and take part in classroom and planetarium programs.
We hope to enhance your child’s science experience with specialized programs for
children ages five to thirteen.
You can choose up to three programs that
our educators have developed especially for your child. In addition, we are
offering you an opportunity to view an exclusive production by National
Geographic, Wildest Weather in the Solar System, at 1:00 p.m. You can decide the
day of your visit if you would like to stay for this planetarium show in the
Science Dome; and there is a small additional charge for each guest.
The
winter session includes two other dates: February 28 and March 27. We hope
you’ll join us for all three days as we will not be holding any programs again
until the fall.

that your children receive the maximum learning enjoyment from our variety of
programs. We have structured the schedule so you can select up to three
different classes. Younger students can experience the stranger side of science,
study food chains with a special visitor, or travel to the moon with a stowaway
cat. Children in the third through fifth grade-range can explore the many facets
of physical science with a hands-on class, learn about day and night, seasons
and moon phases, or identify the different signs of a chemical reaction. Older
children can journey through the Solar System, see how cool liquid nitrogen
effects matter, or work as a team to build an expansive tube.
